General Information About Martı Group
Martı Otel İşletmeleri A.Ş. which was founded in 1967 stepped into the tourism sector by taking into consideration the development of environmentally friendly holiday venues in Turkey with high living standards, and also the matter of tourism being one of Turkey’s most profitable areas of investment.
Martı which is one of Turkey’s oldest tourism corporations had its shares quoted to the Exchange Market in 1989, and became the first tourism company to go public, and thus it has entered the legislations and supervision of the Capital Market Board, and the İstanbul Stocks and Bonds Exchange Market.
Martı which has implemented many successful projects from its foundation till today, has pioneered the transformation of Akdeniz Martı in which it has a 94% affiliation into Martı GYO (REIT) in accordance with the developments in the Turkish Capital Markets as a leader entrepreneur.
Martı GYO (REIT)
Martı Gayrimenkul Yatırım Ortaklığı A.Ş. (“Martı GYO (REIT)”) which was established in May 2006 as a result of the transformation of Akdeniz Martı Turizm ve Yatırım A.Ş. into Real Estate Investment Trust is a capital market corporation operating within the methods and principles set out with the Capital Market Board (CMB) regulations relevant to real estate investment trusts. The Company is obliged to comply with CMB's operating principles, portfolio investment policies, and the regulations pertaining to management restrictions, and relevant legislations.
The main objective for the establishment of Martı Gayrimenkul Yatırım Ortaklığı A.Ş. is the differentiation of Martı Group’s business and investment activities in the area of tourism, and to follow a more efficient investment strategy with Martı GYO (REIT) which will be going public. With the establishment of Martı GYO (REIT), the value of the Group real estates will become more liquid, and provide significant contribution to the growth of the Group, and the financing of its investments.
Martı GYO (REIT) incorporates in its portfolio, Martı Myra with 545 rooms operated by Martı in Antalya Tekirova, Martı Marina in Marmaris Orhaniye with a capacity of 371 yachts, the Martı Hemitea Hotel investment within the Marina land in Marmaris Orhaniye and the Muğla-Sarıgerme plot which is the plot for Martı, a largest hotel project in the near future. In addition, the land on which a boutique hotel was built in Ayin Bay, Gokova, and the 2 lots in Aydın Karacasu are also in REIT’s portfolio. Finally, the Narin Park housing project is being carried out on a 436,000 m2 land in Çerkezköy, which is one of the regions that is close to İstanbul , and which s rapidly gaining value.
Other tourism operators outside Martı, where required, will also be considered as an alternative to operate the real estates in the portfolio of Martı GYO (REIT). Similarly, tourism facilities other than the real estates of Martı GYO (REIT) may also be operated by Martı. Thus, while Martı serves as a completely experienced hotel operator, Martı GYO (REIT) will continue its operations to become one of Turkey's tourism focused, leading real estate investment trust companies successful in their own line of business.
